ELECTIONS ARE WON NOT ON ELECTION DAY/NIGHT……………….. WELL MOST……….

By all indications, it appears the Bo Convention was a success – at least all the parties as reports indicate were able to come to some form of agreement somewhat acceptable by all. However, most will agree with me that the job at hand is greater than the one so far accomplished. To reiterate the road map has been drawn but the difficult journey to 2012 starts now. Before then let’s trudge down memory lane.
Below are figures as quoted by the said medium from the 2007 parliamentary and presidential elections, which veracity I have not checked. Nevertheless, the fact still remains that we lost those elections by a margin, if I could say not difficult to overcome in 2012. However, this is only possible if we learn from the mistakes made them, which led to our defeat. Among the issues we have to address are:
· Treat every member and voice of the Green SLPP family with respect – discourage factionalism, regionalism and all other divisive isms.
· We must do all that we can to elect a flagbearer that is competent and will be sellable not only to the SLPP family both home and abroad but to all the people of the four corners of our mother land – from the North to the South and East to West.
· That flagbearer must also be sellable to the International Community – on whose goodwill Sierra Leone currently survives.
The above three bullet points in my opinion are a good place to start the journey to regaining power in 2012.
